Not Much to Brag About

I saw an infomercial for a 14 day exercise/weight loss program called Shapely Secrets. Participants were very excited over their results.

The majority of them lost one size over the 14 day period. In fact, this is the result that is promised

Better than nothing, but I myself have lost 3 sizes in 14 days using the Almased Turbo Diet.

Most people lose a pound a day. Not water, or muscle, but FAT. Designed by a Nutrition Physician, Almased is specially formulated to contain all of the amino acids your body needs to maintain muscle while losing fat.

This summer, I have let my healthy eating habits slip a little. I have just ordered a 14 day supply of Almased and will begin the Turbo Diet shortly.

Everything is Healthy Now?

Wow! That’s great! 

Look in the grocery store these days and labels scream, “Natural Ingredients,” “Low Fat”, “No Trans Fats.” 

I picked up a pack of Lay’s Sour Cream and Onion Potato Chips the other day. They were very proud to admit that they were “Made with 100% Pure Sunflower Oil,” and contain “0 grams Trans Fats.” 

Look at the ingredients and what do you see? “Nonfat Milk Solids…Monosodium Glutamate,…Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and Cottonseed Oil… Artificial Flavor…” 

  • Nonfat Milk. What is wrong with that? Nothing, except I’ve never seen a nonfat cow. Have you? Can you say processed? Not to mention the bovine growth hormone (and accompanying pus) that is almost certainly present. Alright, the chips never claimed they were unprocessed. Never said they were low fat either.

  • Monosodium Glutamate. Wasn’t that flavor enhancer and preservative outlawed? Every Chinese restaurant I visit proudly exclaims that they are MSG Free. MSG is an excitotoxin. Don’t eat it.

  • Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and Cottonseed Oil. WAIT, what?!? You just told me that there were ZERO grams of trans fats. Partially hydrogenated anything IS a trans fat. Stay away from this. Your body was not designed to handle man-made fats.

  • Artificial Flavor. Stay away from artificial ingredients. Whether it is color or flavor, it was not intended for healthy human consumption.

Bottom line… Read the fine print (ingredients) before you trust any food. Better yet, stay away from processed foods. They were not designed with your best interests in mind.

After all, their shelf life will probably exceed yours.

The Hawaii Chair - Now We’ve Seen It All

Have you seen the latest exercise gadget? I almost fell off of *my* chair the other day when I saw the infomercial.
It is basically a spinning disc that you put on your seat which simulates the hawaiian hula dance.

The premise is that all you have to do for firm thighs, hips and abs, is sit in your chair and let this machine
do all of the work. All for only 6 payments of $69.95. Get one for your office too!

Please don’t fall for this. THe only thing you will lose with the Hawaii Chair is over $400 of your hard earned
cash.

This gadet, like many others sold on TV were only designed to generate cash for the distributor, not a better body
for you.

Be A Loser - The Biggest Loser

It sounds derogatory. But after watching the show, I wanted to be the biggest loser. I was actually a little upset that I didn’t have that much weight to lose. !? I know!  What has happened?

Watching the trainers push the contestants through grueling exercises and testing their cravings with mountains of food, it was the camaraderie that was so appealing.

The contrast between the trainers was also interesting. Bob Harper was the soft spoken, “let’s get in touch with our inner child” type. While Jillian Michaels appeared to be running a boot camp.
